Tell us about your song.
The song “Assimilate” is about conformity. It’s about the pressures of agreeing with others. Because of the way that social media tailors our news feeds and such our viewpoints are, in a way, being force fed to us turning us all into very narrow minded people.
Tell us about you as a person outside the musical world.
Im a pretty normal guy. Im lucky enough to have amazing people in my life. I work on the computer which gives me a certain level of freedom to spend time creating.
Tell us about you as a musician.
My main instrument is guitar. I can get around on bass, keys and drums (kind of). Singing is something that doesn’t come naturally to me….but I’m working hard on it.
Tell us how you manage other activities with your musical career.
It’s a struggle. The best writing happens when I can completely immerse myself in creating a piece. In a perfect world I could shut the world out for days at a time. Finding those windows to allow me to go that deep into the art is difficult.
Tell us your experience as a musician.
Music has been a part of me since I was a kid. It’s always been a very private and personal thing until very recently with the release of the Trigram EP.

Tell us your future plans pertaining music.
I have about 50 ideas for songs at various stages that I am currently sifting through. I plan to pick some winners to fully bring to life and start the recording process early 2018.
Tell us what motivates you to write songs.
There is something very spiritual to me about creating. When you are in the moment. When you are writing and creativity is flowing I feel a very deep peace that could otherwise only be experienced through meditation. The concept of self kind of falls away and you are left with only the process. It’s a state of being that I yearn for that is reached quite naturally when writing music.
Tell us the names of the artists you have worked with and the ones you will like to work with in the future.
My main collaborator has been Brian Mansell who has worked with people like Leon Russell & Johnette Napolitano from Concrete Blonde. As far as who I would like to work with in the future, Im not entirely sure. We will have to see what happens 🙂
Tell us what you think about creativity and originality in music.
I think creativity and originality are things that can only happen if you really submit to the process and let all preconceived ideas fall away.
Tell us the reason you are into music.
Its something I’ve just always connected with and identified with. I think there is something in music that transcends language and can really connect people back to each other.

Tell us your view on old school music and new school music in terms of preference.
I tend to listen to older music. I worry about my tendency to favor old music and am making a concerted effort these days to expand my listening beyond my normal stuff. I think people tend to say that old school is better simply because of nostalgia. There has been and is so much talent currently in the world its ridiculous to make a stand for either old or new really.
Tell us your most memorable day as an artist.
My most memorable day as a music lover was listening to George Michael’s cover of the song “They won’t go when I go” by Stevie Wonder. His voice. Those lyrics. That melody. Still gives me the chills every time I hear. It was a pretty epic listen that showed me how connected a human can feel to a piece of music.
Tell us your genre of music.
I would say Trigram is Hard Rock.
Tell us how you write and record your songs.
I write and record in my home studio. All of these songs were labored over for a very long time. The basics came first with the guitar riffs and general drum beats. I would then ad lib vocals until a melody comes together. Then I would go back through and write lyrics to the melody. From there refine, refine and refine. Bouncing ideas off from my producer Brian Mansell also resulted in some additional parts and restructuring of song structures. After all of that then the bells and whistles like harmonies and extra guitar parts and sound FX and so on.
Tell us what you will do for the people if you found yourself in a position of power.
It would depend on how much power I suppose. Helping out those closest to me would come first and then moving outwards from there. I would love to do something positive with the power for sure and I would require a lot of thought and time to determine exactly what the course of action should be. I would undoubtedly seek advice from people who know more than I on this topic though.
