About Rodney Warner
I’m Rodney Warner. I built my first websites before 2000, on the side while I ran a construction company, and I’ve been doing this work ever since. In 2010 I started Connective Web Design as a one-person studio.
Connective grew into a seven-figure agency with clients across the country. Along the way I’ve led hundreds of branding, web and marketing projects, stood up an agency’s SEO practice from nothing, and ran an agency that managed around three million dollars a month in Google Ads, where I was deep in the tactical work. I’ve also helped other companies grow to eight-figure revenues, which taught me as much about running a business as about marketing one.
In 2026 I stepped back from day-to-day production at Connective, so I could spend my time where I’m most useful: in the room with owners and leadership teams at $5M to $100M companies, working out what their marketing should actually do for the business.
I’m still close enough to the work to know when somebody’s guessing. Some of what I recommend I’ll handle myself, and some of it belongs with another team. Either way I stay involved, because a recommendation nobody follows through on isn’t worth much.
This site is where I share what I’ve learned, and what I’m still figuring out.
Strategy is only useful if you can act on it.
Everything has to earn its place.
A website or a campaign is a sales tool, or it's decoration.
Tell people the truth at all costs.
At the center of all of it is my wife, Maria. She’s my business partner, Connective’s chief creative officer, and the first person I go to when I need an honest opinion. We’ve built a life and a business together, and it’s a daily reminder that good work starts with good people.
